Great Australian wines from a region rather unknown in this country. The Central Victoria Zone covers a wide area, consisting of the Bendigo, Goulburn Valley, Heathcote and Strathbogie Ranges regions. Although the region’s elevation is largely considered cool climate, there are areas that buck the trend and produce some of Australia’s most powerful red wines. White varieties do equally well in the Goulburn Valley and Strathbogie Ranges regions, where the higher elevation and cooler temperatures produce some very elegant Australian white wines.
Central Victoria is full of spectacular panoramas of rocky landscapes, waterfalls and vineyards. The combination of agriculture and forestland makes for an interesting mix, and it’s a region to explore again and again.
