2024 Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon – An elegant cool-climate Cabernet with fruit, freshness, and depth

The 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon from Blue Pyrenees Estate comes from select plots in the heart of the Pyrenees in Western Victoria. This cool region is known for long-aging, characterful red wines—and this single-varietal Cabernet embodies all the typical characteristics: dark fruit, fresh herbs, fine tannins, and an elegant structure. The wine was aged for 9 months in new and used French barriques and hogsheads—a Cabernet of finesse, precision, and expression.

What makes the Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 so special?

The Cabernet grapes come from select plots on the estate in the Pyrenees. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine aged for 9 months in French oak—partly new, partly used. The focus was on precision and balance to optimally highlight the fruit, freshness, and terroir. The result is a cool-climate Cabernet with body, elegance, and great aging potential—typical of Cabernet Sauvignon from Western Victoria, Australia.

And how does the Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 taste?

In the glass, the wine displays a deep blood plum-violet color. The nose is dominated by aromas of black currant, plum, fresh violets, and a hint of cedarwood. On the palate, it is youthful and precise: notes of cassis, floral nuances, river mint, and bay leaf are structured by subtle oak and ultra-fine-grained tannins. A balanced, fresh Cabernet with a cool profile and a long, mineral finish.
