Besides Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon is the second main white grape variety in Bordeaux, namely in the sweet wine appellation Sauternes and in Grave, for dry white wines. In addition, particularly successfully grown in Australia’s Hunter Valley. Hunter Valley Sémillon is one of Australia’s unique wine brands and stands out from any wine made elsewhere in the world from the same grape variety. Sémillon is characterized by its citrusy, fresh notes when young. But it is widely believed that wines made from this grape gain tremendous complexity with age and are best drunk when aged at least 5 years.
