Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris – A delicious Pinot Gris from the fertile backyard of Vancouver

Pinot Gris is the most commonly grown white grape variety in British Columbia. The grapes for the Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris come from some of the best sites in the Okanagan Valley. The growing season in 2020 made it possible to harvest earlier than usual, but with a higher degree of ripeness. Three separate batches of Pinot Gris from different vineyards were fermented at cool temperatures (13-15 degrees Celsius) in stainless steel tanks. After a few months of settling, parts of the three cuvées were blended for the final bottling in spring. The bouquet of this Pinot Gris is characterised by clear, seductive citrus fruit.

And how does the Social Pinot Gris from Backyard Vineyards taste?

The Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris initially beguiles with an intense aroma of honeydew melon, yellow apple, pear and ginger. This is followed by exotic flavours such as papaya, guava and nectarine with light mineral notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and juicy, with fresh, well-integrated acidity. A profound white wine from British Columbia, very elegant and accessible, with a long, slightly flinty finish.

What dishes go well with Social Pinot Gris from Backyard Vineyards?

The Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris is a versatile white wine known for its crisp acidity, light body and refreshing flavours of citrus and green apple. Its adaptability makes it a great companion for a variety of dishes.

The youthful acidity of Canadian Pinot Gris complements the delicate flavours of light seafood. Try pairing it with grilled or poached white fish, shrimp cocktail or oysters. Its crisp and refreshing flavour also makes it an excellent choice for salads. We recommend salads with vinaigrette dressings, goat’s cheese and mixed greens. A classic Caesar salad can also be a good choice.

This Pinot Grigio from British Columbia pairs well with vegetarian dishes such as vegetable stir-fries, pasta primavera or a fresh caprese salad. The acidity of the wine can soften the richness of certain vegetarian dishes. Choose light pasta dishes with seafood, lemon or olive oil-based sauces. The Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris complements these flavours without overpowering the dish.

Whether grilled, roasted or in a light cream sauce, chicken and turkey dishes go well with this white wine from Canada. The acidity of the wine balances out the flavours of the poultry. The clean and crisp profile of Backyard Vineyards Pinot Gris pairs well with the delicate flavours of sushi and sashimi. It is a good choice for a variety of rolls and fresh seafood.

This Canadian white wine is also an excellent accompaniment to a variety of light starters such as bruschetta, fresh mozzarella and tomato skewers or prosciutto-wrapped melon. The acidity of the wine can cut through the smoky flavour of grilled vegetables. Combine the Pinot Grigio with vegetable skewers or a grilled vegetable platter.

The Social Pinot Gris from Backyard Vineyards also harmonises well with lighter cheeses such as feta, mozzarella or goat’s cheese. A cheese platter with fresh fruit is a delicious combination. Its versatility allows it to complement the flavours of quiche or frittata, whether they contain vegetables, seafood or a combination of ingredients.
