The Nelson Sauvignon Blanc from Seifried Estate Winery is a blend of Seifried’s best parcels in Nelson. The Brightwater vineyard is located 15 kilometres from the coast and is protected by the Richmond Mountains from the south. The soil is a combination of rock and boulders, which makes it difficult to farm but is excellent at storing solar energy. The Queen Victoria Vineyard is located in the Motueka area in the heart of a region also known for its apple orchards, kiwis and hops. The grapes there grow on very stony, poor soils, which promotes the precise clarity of the fruit and the intensity of the grape variety. The individual plots were harvested at a time when the aromas, sugars and grape acidity were in good balance. After the harvest, the grapes were immediately destemmed and pressed. Temperature-controlled, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks ensured that the pure, aromatic fruit was preserved.
