The Cabernet Sauvignon with history

The wine takes its name from a 60-meter-long man-made cave. It was dug into the massive limestone hill in 1916, where the winery’s vineyards are now located to grow mushrooms. Above this cave, on the crest of the hill, there are 19 rows of “Reynella Selection” Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Planted in 1972, these vines are descended from those that John Reynell brought to South Australia over 150 years ago. This Cabernet was aged for 24 months in new and used French oak barrels.

And this is how the Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon by Maxwell tastes

The Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon is dark purple in color. It immediately beguiles with animating aromas of blackberry and dark chocolate. On the palate it is generous and opulent, with notes of red currant, cranberry and cherry, accompanied by cedar wood notes that come from the toasting of the barrique barrels. The acidity is well integrated, the tannins crumbly. An elegant Cabernet Sauvignon, multifaceted and with a considerable length.

2018 Maxwell Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon

And that goes well with The Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon by Maxwell

The recommendation of Fabian Lehmann, the chef at the winery’s own restaurant for Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon, is fried pork belly with crispy greaves. We really appreciate it for entrecôte or grilled tomahawk steaks of Wagyu beef.
