Gewürztraminer is a high-quality white grape variety, the most important subspecies of Traminer, which is also called Savagnin Blanc (or Savagnin for short) in many sources. Along with Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc, it is counted among the so-called Bouquet varieties because of its distinctive aroma. The grape variety is grown in France (Alsace), in Germany (especially in the Rhine Palatinate and Baden), in Austria, in South Tyrol in Italy and to a lesser extent in Australia, New Zealand and California. The aroma spectrum of this pink grape seems exotically perfumed rather than spicy, ranging from lychees and rose petals to white peaches.
