The grapes for this classic white wine from New Zealand come from three of Seifried’s best vineyards, the Brightwater Vineyard, the Queen Victoria Vineyard and the Redwood Valley Vineyard. The Brightwater Vineyard is located 15 kilometres from the coast and is protected by the Richmond Mountains from the south. The soil is a combination of rock and boulders, which makes it difficult to farm but is excellent at storing solar energy.
The Queen Victoria Vineyard is located in the Motueka area in the heart of a region also known for its apple orchards, kiwis and hops. The grapes there grow on very stony soils, which promotes the precise clarity of the fruit and the intensity of the grape variety. The unirrigated Redwood Valley vineyard is situated on a gently sloping, north-facing hillside. The vines are between 10 and 30 years old. The vertical arrangement of the shoots helps the berries to fully capture the sunlight for optimal ripening.
