A hearty-spicy Syrah

The grapes for this wonderful Syrah come from its own vineyards in Hawke’s Bay’s Bridge Pa Triangle, Woodthorpe Terraces and the Gimblett Gravels subregions. After harvesting the individual plots, the grapes were destemmed and a longer maceration took place on the skins before pressing and fermenting. The wine was aged for eight months in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels.

And this is how Te Mata’s Syrah Estate Vineyard tastes

Te Mata Syrah Estate Vineyards presents an immensely inviting, multifaceted bouquet of raspberry syrup, black cherry, plum and anise, accompanied by boysen berries, Turkish confectionery, lavender, nutmeg and cocoa. On the palate, this Syrah is well structured, profound and hearty, with lots of lush fruit, subtle floral charm of lavender, tempting notes of nutmeg and dark cocoa. A fascinating red wine, with smooth tannin, finely annoying acidity and long reverberation.

2019 Te Mata Syrah Estate Vineyards

And that goes well with Te Mata’s Syrah Estate Vineyard

The hearty spicy Te Mata Syrah Estate Vineyards goes great with a hearty snack with ham and sausages and with hearty grills, especially red meats. It is also great with hearty soft cheeses.
