Mansion House Bay Marlborough Pinot Gris – uncomplicated drinking fun from Whitehaven Wines from New Zealand

The grapes for the Mansion House Bay Marlborough Pinot Gris come mainly (83%) from Whitehaven’s vineyard in Pauls Road (Rapaura), the rest from the Tussocks vineyard (Awatere Valley). A large proportion of the grapes were mechanically harvested and pressed immediately with minimal skin contact, the remainder was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. After cold settling, the clear juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at 14-15 degrees Celsius. Carefully selected yeast strains were used. After fermentation, the wine remained on the fine lees for 3-4 months. It was then filtered and finally bottled on 12 September 2022.
