The wild Spaniard in Australia

Tempranillo is originally from Rioja – the famous wine region in northern Spain, but is now widely used under various names throughout Spain and Portugal. Tempranillo is a spirited grape that, for perfect maturity, requires warmth, sun as well as cold to maintain freshness. It thrives very well in the higher altitudes of the warmer regions, where there is a big difference between day and night temperatures. A good Tempranillo is deep ruby red with complex and intense aromas of red and black fruits, more elegant than full-bodied with higher but soft tannins.

And this is how the Wild Fermented Tempranillo from Topper’s Mountain Wines tastes

The Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tempranillo beguiles with a delicate scent of cherry cake, dark cherries, black berries, underlaid with a hint of mint and a pinch of cinnamon in the nose. On the palate sour and sweet at the same time with aromas of sour cherries in chocolate, black berries, black cherries and vanilla. The finely annoying acidity gives the wine freshness and a long finish which is balanced by ripe and soft tannins. Typical Tempranillo – smooth and palatable, yet serious and complex.

2013 Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tempranillo

And that goes well with the Wild Fermented Tempranillo from Topper’s Mountain Wines

The Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tempranillo goes wonderfully to tapas, to a hearty snack or to hearty bean stews with chorizo sausage, classic lasagna with beef or pork and of course Manzanilla olives, jamón serrano and queso manchego.
