2021 Creekside Sauvignon Blanc – A crisp, fresh Sauvignon from the Niagara Peninsula

The growing season of 2021 was wonderfully warm and dry until the end of the summer. Rainfall in the fall made harvesting a challenge, but the Creekside team managed to get all the Sauvignon Blanc grapes through the wet weather unscathed. Overall, the vintage shows a good balance between animating fruit and herbal notes, all well supported by refreshing acidity.

And what does the Sauvignon Blanc from Creekside Estate Winery taste like?

The Creekside Sauvignon Blanc seduces with a delicately fruity aroma of pears, gooseberries and citrus notes. These delicate aromas are accompanied by notes of pea pods and fennel. On the palate, this Canadian white wine is invigoratingly fresh and juicy, with a delicate acidity and good balance. The fruit continues pleasantly in the mouth, with crisp apple, zesty lime and mouth-watering grapefruit, accompanied by herbal notes. An elegant, light-footed Sauvignon Blanc from Niagara, with a beguiling finish.

What dishes go well with Creekside Sauvignon Blanc?

Try the Creekside Sauvignon Blanc with fresh seafood and fish. This is a classic combination. Oysters, mussels, crab, prawns or grilled fish go well with this type of wine. The acidity of the Australian wine can balance the seafood, and the fruity flavors complement the delicate ocean flavors. The fruity acidity of this Canadian Sauvignon Blanc can enhance the delicate fish flavors in sushi and sashimi and provide a refreshing combination.

Dishes prepared with citrus fruits also harmonize well with the fruity acidity of the Australian white wine. This could be lemon chicken, grilled salmon fillets with lemon butter or prawns in a citrus marinade. The herbaceous notes of this Canadian white wine go well with asparagus. A simple preparation method such as steamed asparagus with a little lemon juice and parmesan can work wonderfully.

Green vegetables such as green beans, peas, spinach or broccoli can harmonize well with Creekside Sauvignon Blanc. The flavors complement each other and the acidity of the wine can accentuate the freshness of the vegetables. Sauvignon Blanc and goat’s cheese are a classic combination. The grassy and fruity aromas of the wine go perfectly with the characteristic taste of goat’s cheese. A salad with goat’s cheese or a cheese platter are good options.

Also light, summery salads with fresh herbs, tomatoes, cucumber and a light-colored dressing. They can go well with this Sauvignon Blanc from Canada. The fresh flavors complement each other perfectly. Grilled chicken, turkey breast or chicken salads with fresh herbs are also suitable accompaniments for this style of Sauvignon Blanc.

We can also imagine pasta dishes with light sauces such as pesto, tomato sauce or lemon butter. Creekside Sauvignon Blanc has also proved to be a great accompaniment to summer starters such as caprese salad (tomato, mozzarella, basil), bruschetta or gazpacho.
