Cuvée is usually understood as the artful blending of wines from different grape varieties. As a rule, wines of the same color are blended. Other terms include assemblage, blend (New World), Cape Blend (South Africa), CVC (Conjunto de Varias Cosechas in Spain), coupage, marriage, meritage (California) and, in German-speaking countries, Verschnitt. The most famous example of a white blend is white Bordeaux, which was made as early as the 18th or 19th century from grapes such as Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Other white blends have since emerged around the world, although this category of wine is still significantly overlooked compared to its red blend counterpart. However, many high-end wine producers are choosing to produce white blends, and these wines can indeed offer many unique and delicious flavors as wineries have the ability to customize their flavor profiles.
