The Barns family’s business became known as a nursery. Over decades, Mischa Estate has developed into the third largest nursery in the southern hemisphere. However, this was no longer enough for the current owners, the brothers Andrew and Gary Barns. A few years ago, in addition to vine cultivation, they began to pursue their further passion and to prepare wine themselves. Today, Mischa Estate is one of South Africa’s most prestigious boutique wineries, honored with many awards from leading wine critics.<\/p>\n
The grape variety Petite Sirah is originally from the Rh\u00f4ne Valley in France. There it is also called Durif and serves primarily as a blending partner to give a wine more color and life-prolonging tannin. The grapes of the Barns are also small-berry and thick-skinned. They come from a small plot, which is cared for by the brothers with much love and care. The selection of grape material is very strict. The result is a world-class wine, very colorful, powerful and quite durable thanks to its tannin framework. The Petite Sirah Reserve by Mischa Estate, matures for 10 months in French oak barriques. Thanks to his good storage potential of 10 – 12 years, he has what it takes to become one of the greats of South Africa.<\/p>\n

The Mischa Estate Petite Sirah Reserve attracts with an intense ruby red and slightly purple reflections. In the nose rises a seductive scent of sweet and sour plum mousse and dark berries, such as blueberries, blackberries and black cherries, accompanied by woody-spicy aromas, such as cedar, white pepper and liquorice. On the palate, this characterful red wine from Wellington is densely woven and full-bodied. The tannin is present, but very supple, the acidity is well integrated. The dark berry fruit continues animating.
