The Merlot grape variety also has good potential in Niagara-on-the-lake and here too the extraordinary vintage is noticeable. The 2015 vintage was warm and dry with lots of sunshine during the day and cool, refreshing nights. Maturation took place for 24 months in used French oak barrels.<\/p>\n

From the glass of Pillitteri Exclamation Merlot flows a wonderful, complex scent of black cherry, candied liquorice, blackberry and blueberry compote, underlaid with subtle aromas of cloves and fresh mint leaves. After breathing a little, notes of cedar, juniper and vanilla appear. On the palate it has a lot of extract and fine enamel, aromas of dark chocolate and nutmeg are noticeable. The acidity is well supportive, the tannin crumbly.
