The grapes used for the Whitehaven Marlborough Pinot Noir come from Marlborough\u2019s Awatere Valley (54%) and the Southern Valley (46%). The grapes for this wine were hand-harvested during the cool autumn mornings. They were then sorted at the winery, destemmed, and transferred to various stainless steel fermentation tanks. A small portion of the whole grapes, about 5\u201320 percent, was left whole. After a cold maceration of about 3\u20137 days, alcoholic fermentation was initiated using wild, indigenous yeasts. The wine remained on the skins for a total of 7 days before being pressed. Aging took place in various French oak barriques. The proportion of new oak was approximately 30 percent. The wine then remained in these barrels for 10 months. Finally, on March 1, 2022, this Pinot Noir was bottled.<\/p>\n

The Whitehaven Marlborough Pinot Noir beguiles the nose with a delicate aroma of fully ripe red cherries, blackcurrants and blackberries, with hints of thyme, cedar, anise and dark chocolate. On the palate, cherry and plum flavours continue impressively, accompanied by mineral tones. The texture of the red wine is supple and the tannin silky. The acidity is present and very well integrated.
