The Whitehaven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is Whitehaven’s flagship wine. It is one of our absolute favourite wines. The grape material for this fantastic Sauvignon Blanc comes exclusively from Marlborough, from a mix of winery-owned or leased vineyards and vineyards from contract growers. The grapes were harvested in the cool evening hours. In 2022, only minimal thinning was required due to the naturally low yields. Immediately after the harvest, pressing took place, with care taken to minimise contact between the must and the grape skins to avoid too much tannin in the wine. After cold settling, the clear juice was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks at 16\u00b0C – 12\u00b0C with selected yeast strains to preserve the pure, sub-regional characters and varietal aromas. Before bottling, the wines were left on their fine lees in stainless steel tanks for up to 6 weeks.<\/p>\n

Almost classic for the Whitehaven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is the intense and beguiling aroma of blackcurrant, grapefruit, lime and ground herbs, accompanied by tropical fruit and gooseberry. On the palate, the wine is elegant, pure and concentrated. Aromas of white peach, citrus fruits and wet river pebbles. The acidity is perfectly integrated and very appetising.
