Maxwell’s Little Demon Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro is the perfect blend of three Mediterranean grape varieties: 56% Grenache, 38% Shiraz and 6% Mourv\u00e8dre (often called Mataro). This style goes back centuries to the time of the French Popes of Avignon & Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape, but is fresh & modern with bright berry fruit, subtle spice and plenty of complexity despite its easy-drinking nature. The wine was aged for 12 – 15 months in used American and French oak barriques. The unusual name goes back to a physics experiment. In 1871, the Scottish scientist James Clerk Maxwell proposed a thought experiment involving a hypothetical creature that acts as a gatekeeper between two chambers to sort gas molecules according to their speed. At first glance, such a system could potentially generate energy out of nothing… theoretically impossible given the laws of physics. This hypothetical gatekeeper became known among physicists as Maxwell’s little demon and has been a source of debate in the scientific community for more than a century. <\/p>\n
