Fruity spicy Shiraz from some of the best plots of the Northern Barossa Valley

The grapes for “The Prophet” Shiraz come from the Resurrection vineyards in the Ebenezer subregion of the Northern Barossa Valley. Ebenezer has a varied topography in which the old red layers of earth vary from a few centimeters to tens of meters. On these soils there are various Shiraz plantations, some of which are almost 100 years old. This combination of soils, depth, vine age and selection of clones makes each plot of Shiraz so unique that every year small quantities are produced from the individual plots into so-called block wines under a special label. The Prophet is a cuvée of 3 of these special plots. After harvesting, the grapes of the individual plots were fermented in large open containers for 7 days. Subsequently, the wine was pressed from the bowls and pumped into the barrels for maturation, partly into used French barriques, partly into American large hogsheads, 50% of which were new. This was followed by an 18-month maturation and a malolactic secondary fermentation. This Shiraz was made vegan.

And this is how St. John’s Road tastes: The Prophet Shiraz 2016

St. John’s Road The Prophet Shiraz seduces with fragrant aromas of thyme, sage, plum and blackberry that blend harmoniously with hints of leather and peppery, spicy notes. On the palate you can feel the crisp, fresh Shiraz-typical fruit notes, which correspond wonderfully with the wood notes. Fine, supple tannins and a round mouthfeel with extract sweetness, although the wine is dry, end in a long finish.

And St. John’s Road: The Prophet Shiraz 2016 fits in with this

St. John’s Road The Prophet Shiraz goes perfectly with grilled lamb carts. We can also highly recommend it for braised game dishes.
